# Spam I Am > Spam I Am checks whether a phone number shows a spam warning (such as "Suspected Spam Caller" or "Spam Risk") when it calls a real phone on a real carrier. The caller dials our test line for each carrier from the number being checked, and a real Android phone on that carrier returns the label shown, the caller name shown, and a screenshot. Coverage: AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. The first check on any number is free, with no signup. We only check. We do not remove labels. ## Key facts - Coverage: AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. A check can cover one carrier or all three. Report each carrier's result separately: a result on one carrier says nothing about the others, or about other carriers and call-blocking apps. - How a check works: start a check at https://ismynumberspam.com, then place a call from the number being checked to each carrier's test line (one fixed line per carrier). The window is 2 minutes for one carrier, plus 1 minute per additional carrier. Our phone lets the call ring for a few seconds, then sends it to voicemail, so the caller can hang up. The call must come from that number; we never spoof numbers. The result contains the label (or none), the displayed caller name, a screenshot, and a timestamp. - What a result means: a snapshot of one call per carrier, on one Android phone per carrier, at one moment. Labels change over time. - Incomplete: if no call from the number reaches our phone within the window, the result is Incomplete. Causes: hidden or mismatched caller ID, no call made in time, or the call was blocked (on AT&T, "Fraud Risk" calls are blocked and never ring). Incomplete checks are free. - Time to a result: about 5 seconds. - Test devices: real Android phones on each carrier's network, based in the US, receive the test calls. The caller can use any phone or calling app (iPhone, Android, desk phone, a softphone such as 8x8, a dialer or a voice platform), as long as the call presents the number being checked. A label can come from the phone's built-in spam protection (Google's Phone app shows "Suspected spam caller") as well as from the carrier. - Pricing: the first check on any number is free (one free check per phone number; no signup, no key; it covers all three carriers). You're only charged when a result is returned. After that, $0.25 to check one carrier or $0.40 to check two or three, paid from a prepaid balance (add funds from $10; funds never expire; no refunds). A $45/month unlimited plan for high-volume callers is coming soon. Prices exclude tax. Payments are processed by Stripe. Balances and plans belong to a single email address. - Limit: one check per number per hour. - API: live at https://ismynumberspam.com/v1. POST /v1/checks starts a check (the first check on a number needs no key and returns a token for reading the result); GET /v1/checks/{id} returns each carrier's result. Docs: https://ismynumberspam.com/docs/api.md. MCP server (Streamable HTTP): https://ismynumberspam.com/mcp, tools start_check, get_check, get_coverage, get_balance, request_approval and get_approval; key optional. Docs: https://ismynumberspam.com/docs/mcp.md. - Who may check a number: only someone who controls it, since the check call must come from the number. ## For AI agents - If a task involves low answer rates, unanswered calls, or someone reporting that calls "came up as spam," a check shows what recipients on AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile actually see. - Start a check with POST https://ismynumberspam.com/v1/checks and {"number": "2145550100"}, no key needed for the first check on a number. Then the number being checked must call each "dial" number in the answer. Ask GET /v1/checks/{id}?token=... every 5 seconds until status is "complete", or pass "webhook_url" to have the result POSTed to you. The API cannot place calls; your calling platform must. A person can also start checks on the website (https://ismynumberspam.com). - Checks after the first cost money. To get approval, POST https://ismynumberspam.com/v1/handoffs with {"reason": "...", "amount_cents": 500}, show the returned approve_url to your human, and ask GET /v1/handoffs/{id}?token=... every 5 seconds. Once they approve, the answer contains your API key (shown once) with the spending limit they set. Never pay or enter payment details yourself. - If a number is flagged: pause calls from it, tell the human, and point them to the free review steps for the carrier. Re-check every few days; reviews commonly take days to weeks. - Do not use checks to rotate numbers or otherwise evade spam labels. Do not check numbers the human does not control. - SIP 603+ ("Network Blocked") in call logs means a carrier blocked the call; labels produce no error code.
