Spam I Am

How to remove a spam label on AT&T

To remove a spam label on AT&T, request a free review from Hiya, the analytics company that supplies AT&T's spam labels. Business numbers should start with Hiya's free Number Registration, and then submit Hiya's review form if the label stays. Personal numbers go straight to the review form. Fix whatever caused the label first, or it's likely to come back.

Spam I Am doesn't remove labels. Only the analytics provider can, after a review. We check what AT&T phones are showing so you know when the label is gone.

What AT&T's labels look like

AT&T's call protection (ActiveArmor) uses two kinds of warnings:

If people tell you your calls show as "Spam Likely," check which carrier they're on. That wording is generally associated with other carriers.

On Android phones, people may see "Suspected spam caller" instead. That warning comes from the phone's built-in spam protection, not from AT&T: it's what Google's Phone app shows, and it's on by default. It can appear on any carrier, which is one more reason to fix the cause rather than only filing an AT&T review.

One thing that's easy to miss: AT&T customers who've saved your number in their contacts won't see a spam warning, because saved contacts override it. So existing clients may see your calls fine while new prospects see "Spam Risk."

Before you start

  1. Confirm it's AT&T. Ask the person who mentioned it which carrier they use, or run a check to see exactly what a real AT&T phone shows for your number.
  2. Note the exact label and when you saw it. Write down the wording, the date, and a few example calls (the number you called, date and time). Screenshots help. Review teams may ask for examples.

Step 1: Fix what caused the label

A review is far more likely to stick if the cause has stopped. Hiya says its labels are driven mostly by how people respond to your calls, such as spam reports and blocks. Common causes include:

Step 2: Register your number (business numbers)

Business numbers: sign up for Hiya's free Number Registration. Hiya's vetting team verifies that you own the number before it's registered. Registration also gives you Hiya's view of your number's spam status, plus a report card grading what's driving it.

Registration doesn't guarantee a clean label, because how people respond to your calls still counts. After verification, it can take a few more days for changes to reach carrier systems.

Personal numbers: skip to Step 3.

Step 3: Request a review from Hiya

If the label is still there, submit Hiya's review request form. It's free, and Hiya uses it for both personal and business numbers.

AT&T's own link, att.com/reviewmycalllabel, takes you to the same place: Hiya's support page, where you choose the option to report a possible spam-labeling issue on a phone number.

Have this ready:

Tip: if you registered in Step 2, address any low grades on your report card in your explanation. Hiya specifically asks for context behind poor reputation grades so it can understand your calls. "We call customers who requested a quote, within 24 hours, and stopped repeat calls" is more useful than "we're not spam."

The Free Caller Registry is a free, single form that sends your details to Hiya, First Orion and TNS, the analytics providers behind AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. It's especially worth doing if you also call Verizon and T-Mobile customers.

Dialpad's help center notes that analytics providers give less weight to Free Caller Registry submissions than to direct registration, and that the two are separate. For AT&T specifically, Hiya's direct registration is the stronger step.

Step 5: Wait, then re-check

FAQ

How do I remove "Spam Risk" from my number on AT&T?

Request a review from Hiya, which supplies AT&T's spam labels. Business numbers should first register through Hiya's free Number Registration. If the label stays, submit Hiya's review form. Fix the cause first, or the label is likely to return.

Does it cost anything?

No. Hiya's Number Registration, Hiya's review form and the Free Caller Registry are all free.

How long does it take?

Hiya only works reviews on business days. One provider estimates a typical response in 3–5 business days, and full clearance can take longer. Re-check every few days.

Can I get a label removed on a personal number?

Yes. Hiya accepts review requests for personal numbers through the same form, with no business registration needed.

Why do some AT&T customers see my calls fine but others see "Spam Risk"?

AT&T customers who've saved you as a contact don't see spam warnings. People who haven't saved your number do.

What's the difference between "Spam Risk" and "Fraud Risk"?

On AT&T, "Spam Risk" calls ring with a warning. "Fraud Risk" calls are blocked automatically, so the phone doesn't ring. Fraud Risk is the more urgent problem, because people never see your call at all.
